An Announcement - And A Statement

To all Union Special employees... everywhere:

We are adopting a new trade mark January 1st, 1961 which will be displayed soon throughout our factories and offices. The new trade mark will replace our old double locked stitch trade mark.

Quite fittingly the new trade mark will introduce our eightieth year of producing industrial sewing machines. For all of those eighty years, the name Union Special has meant quality "finest quality" to all who know us. This is something in which every Union Special employee everywhere can take deep pride, for it is the men and the women in the Union Special family, in every job, whether in manufacturing, development, maintenance, sales or office, who are responsible for having built that reputation for Finest Quality.

Now, as we enter our eightieth year, that reputation for quality is a most important factor in our continuing success. It is important, then, that every member of the Union Special family resolve to do his best to preserve, extend, and deepen that reputation and insure our future as a successful business.

The new trade mark will appear in our outdoor building signs, here and at our sales offices, on our letterheads, business forms, in our advertising and literature, as well as on machines and parts, as soon as possible. By these means we intend to focus attention on principles embodied in our products since 1881.

Quality is, and always has been, the most important factor in every Union Special employee's job.

On the occasion of our 80th anniversary, which takes place in 1961, we are pleased to make comment on this new symbol as marking a very pleasant, significant, and important event. NE December/January 1961
