"Finest Quality" Gets A New Look - Golden Beige UNION SPECIAL MACHINES are beginning to emerge in a new garb, a modern new shade called Golden Beige. At a time when "environment" is becoming increasingly important in industry, this new color brings a fresh, new appearance to machines and enhances the working environment for operators. In addition, the new finish provides added quality and longer life. |
Union Special has long recognized the importance of color and its effect on operators. An important first step was taken in 1947, when Union Special introduced Taupe as the new color for its machines, replacing the industry standard black. As the new machines moved into plants, the general appearance of sewing rooms was improved and operators welcomed the new color as a relief from the drabness of older machines. Beginning some 18 months ago, Union Special consulted color experts and in the interim, much study was given to various shades before the final decision was made for the new duo-tone Golden Beige. In addition to appearance, other benefits have resulted. Abrasion resistance tests indicate that the new organosol finish should wear about two and one-half times as long as any coating previously used and that it has a better bonding quality and a higher adherence factor. The finish is superior in resisting chipping by sharp instruments such as scissors; it is impervious to high humidity, salt atmosphere or detergents; and oil, food, ink and cosmetics will not stain it. Color fade resistance is excellent. Several "Finest Quality" machines in the new duo-tone Golden Beige finish drew wide attention when they were unveiled at the Knitting Arts Exhibition in May. Among the enthusiastic comments were those of operators and supervisors who were attracted by the eye-pleasing color. NE August/September 1971 |
