New Controls Simplify Elastic Attaching

Sewing elastic to swimsuits and women’s briefs is easier than ever with new workstation electronics to accurately control every step of the sewing process.  Workstation WS395TKN22M162, which operates with Union Special overedger 39500CRFZ909R, has been upgraded with a third generation electronic control box.

39500CRFZ909R with WS395TKN22M162 is for attaching elastic to the waist and leg openings of swimwear, women’s briefs and similar garments. This differential feed head sews a one needle, three thread, overedge stitch with a 4mm (5/32") seam width. It has special sewing parts for circular sewing, as well as an Air Klipp^® Thread Chain Cutter and pneumatic presser foot lifter. Elastic from 4 to 15mm wide (5/32 to 9/16 ") can be sewn. The WS395TKN22M162 workstation is complete, and features a stepper motor-driven metering device with an integrated elastic cutter and automatic re-insertion of elastic into the presser foot. It also includes a Mitsubishi DC positioning motor. (Also available with Efka DC positioning motor as workstation number WS395TKN21E162.) Stitch count, pneumatics and elastic unwinding functions are controlled by the new electronics.

With these new electronics, the elastic insertion, metering and cut system can be programmed for up to 50 seams, simple or complex. For simple metering, 20 seams with up to 2 tensions can be programmed. For complex metering, 30 seams with up to 8 tensions can be programmed, all of which can be linked to one another.
