Fold and Attach Dress Shirt Center Plaits in One Operation

The Union Special 56700J two-needle chainstitch machine provides an economical way to sew center plaits on light to medium weight fabrics. The folder attachment folds a pre-cut strip with interlining to form a set-on center plait on the shirt front, with the operation starting from the neck. The plait extends 1/4” (6.4mm) beyond the rows of stitching.

The machine is available in two gauges, the 56700J56 and 56700J64. The 56700J56 has 7/8” (22.2mm) needle spacing for a finished plait width of 13/8”. 56700J64 has 1” (25.4mm) needle spacing for a finished plait width of 11/2”.
