1. All visible oil wicks should be checked for proper positioning over the eccentrics and to make sure they are not broken or dried out, Figure 7 and Figure 8.
     
  2. The head chamber cover should be removed and any lint should be removed with compressed air, a brush or rag, Figure 9.
     
  3. The felt pad in the base plate oil pan and the rubber seal on the filter cap assembly should be cleaned of any contaminants. If the pad or seal has dried out it should be replaced, Figure 10.
     
  4. All thread contact surfaces should be cleaned and checked for burrs, sharp edges and worn thread holes, Figure 11.
     
  5. After all of the above areas have been cleaned and or replaced, reinstall the drain plug and refill the machine with oil. It is important to use Union Special Corporation Spec.
    175 oil which has the following characteristics, (See Table Below).  Fill the machine until the proper oil level is indicated in the oil sight gauge. NE
