Basic Maintenance for
Class CV & EV 900 and
MO250 Machines

The needles are straight, the speed is fast and their capabilities are limitless.

The Union Special Class CV900 and EV900 machines sew on almost any fabric with almost any sewing thread.

Designed to simplify thread handling with easy-to-use adjustments, these machines minimize your downtime when setting up for different garment styles.

The CV900 and EV900 machines come in many styles to sew a variety of types and weights of garments, and can be equipped with various attachments for operator comfort and productivity.

Yet, even the best machines need regular maintenance to keep productivity at its peak. The following routine maintenance procedures need to be performed at least twice yearly or every 2,000 operating hours.

  1. Drain the old oil from the machine. To do this, remove the plug screw, Figure 1, located on the right end of the machine below and in front of the hand wheel. Tip the machine slightly so that all of the oil will drain out.

  2. Remove the oil pan from the machine. To do this, remove the four nuts located in the comers of the oil pan, Figure 2. Using a clean rag, remove the excess oil and any contaminants that may be found in the pan area.

  3. Clean the filter inside the pan, Figure 3, removing any lint or contaminants. If the filter is worn, remove
the filter holder and replace the filter.

  4. Check the oil pan gasket to insure that it is not cracked, pinched or deteriorating from dry rot and replace if necessary, Figure 4. After the above areas have been cleaned replace the oil pan.
