Basic Maintenance on Class
2000 &
3000 Portable Bag Closing Machines
Union Special Corporation bag closing
machines are known world wide for their sturdy design, reliability, and
durability. The Union Special Class 2000 Portable Bag closing machine is
a fast, efficient, lightweight machine for closing bags made of jute,
cotton, linen, paper or plastic, with a single-thread
stitch type 101.
With its direct drive fan-cooled electric motor, fiberglass-reinforced
break-resistant motor housing and handle, heavy-duty automatic shut-off,
carbon brushed, dustproof, permanently lubricated ball bearings, 16 foot
power cord and built-in chain cutter, the Union Special Class 2000 is an
ideal
machine to have in any facility. The Class 2000 can be used as your main
machine or as a spare when your other bag closing machines are in need
of service.
As it is with all machines, maintenance is a key factor to keeping your
facility running efficiently and smoothly. The Union Special Class 2000
should also be serviced and maintained regularly to keep it running
smoothly and efficiently. The following are the recommended steps for
properly maintaining the Class 2000 machines.
- Inspect the power cord and plug for
signs of wear, Figure 1. A damaged
outer cord could mean that the wires on the inside are also damaged
and shocks could occur. Replace or
repair as needed.
- Inspect the thread stand to see if it
is bent or broken, Figure 2. It is
important that the thread come directly
off the center of the cone. Replace or repair as needed.
- Remove the outer cover opposite the
thread stand by loosening the 10 Phillips head screws,
Figure 3.
- Check the switch for wear and replace
if needed, Figure 4.
- Clean the motor area and air slots,
removing dirt and other contaminants with a small brush, rag or
compressed air, Figure 5.
Note: Care must be taken not to damage any of the
electrical components.
