Just Belt it out!
Changing of the Looper Drive Belt
50342CH on all FS & MF Machine Styles
- Remove the cast-off plate assembly with it’s screw.
- Loosen the two screws in the looper avoid eccentric retaining
plate (A). Rotate the looper drive module (B) clockwise or
counterclockwise as necessary until as much tension as possible is
removed from the looper drive belt. Use the cast-off plate holder
assembly (C) as a handle for turning the looper drive module. The holder
assembly can be repositioned by loosening it’s screw if necessary.
- Remove the take-up cam assembly.
- Remove the looper driven sprocket from under the looper drive
belt. If the looper belt tension was loosened properly as described in
step 2, the driven sprocket should pull out from under the belt easily.

- Loosen the screws in the looper drive sprocket and move it to the
left on the lower main shaft.
- Loosen the screws in the lower main shaft coupling and move it to
the left revealing an opening between the two main shafts.
- Remove the looper drive belt by passing it through the opening
between the lower main shafts.
- Remove the feed chamber cover with it’s six screws and gasket.
Care should be taken not to damage the gasket when removing.
