Larger Looper Thread Eyelets Available For FS300 401 Stitch Machines Today’s mechanic/technicians are being put to the test everyday, with the ever-changing styles and the abstract outfits that today’s designers are introducing. The idea of a common thread size and accommodating needle size has been put to the wayside. Thread size has normally gotten smaller over the years because of the efforts by the thread companies to add strength to the smaller size thread. But with many of today’s new designs, the thread has actually gotten larger to give the seams a new, bolder and thicker look, and this has caused many problems for the mechanics to solve. One such problem had recently appeared on the FS311, 3-needle 401 stitch machines. A contractor was asked to sew a denim product with a size T105 and T120 cotton covered polyester thread. The standard looper thread eyelets allowed the thread to pass freely until it came to a flaw or a knot in the thread, and then the thread would break or cause a malformed stitch. As a solution to their breakage and malforming problem, Union Special found a solution in the looper thread eyelets number 38259E from the 38200 Samson machine. This machine normally sews heavy thread of T210 or larger. Once the new eyelets were installed, the problem was eliminated and the operator, contractor and customer were happy. |
The larger looper thread eyelets can be installed on any of the 1, 2 or 3 needle 401 stitch machines. It is recommended that all three (3) of the standard eyelets and screws be removed and replaced with the new eyelets 38259E and longer screw SS7060610SP.
