ELASTIC METERING
WITH NEW MOTORS

Distributors and customers should be aware of two motors now available which are unable to control the electric metering devices on Union Special® FS/CS Series machines. However, there is a simple work-around solution.

When running a Union Special® MD-1, -2, -3 or -4 electric motor-driven elastic metering device, any installation incorporating the new Efka AB60D motor or Juki SC-380 motor must have the new motor synchronizer located on the lower main shaft pulley. Then the synchronizer (Union Special part number
670-M10A) which is supplied with the sewing head is to be mounted to the handwheel using the K74487 Handwheel Adapter, and plugged into the metering device control box.

Anyone replacing an old motor or assembling an installation with one of these newer motors can purchase these two parts from Union Special Corp. to continue controlling the elastic metering:

  • K74487 Handwheel Adapter

  • K74478 Stop Bracket for Synchronizer

  • (K74478 includes the following: Synchronizer Stopper K74588, Screw SS6122030SP, and Spacer 50374K.)
